Walt Disney, ever since it was first established in as early as in the 19th century, people have been a fan. Be it children or adults, Disney attracts fans irrespective of individual’s age. Thus, to no surprise Halloween is able to attract people clad in Disney costumes – children and adults. From classic Disney characters like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, to the more recent Buzz Lightyear and the Incredibles, one can easily spot them at any Halloween party. Be it spooky, beautiful or high-tech, Disney characters have got it all covered! That is the major reason for these characters’ popularity in the Halloween. Not only are these characters a pleasant sight, but they also give adults an opportunity to relive their childhood.
Spooky Disney characters are generally comprised of the villains depicted in their cartoons or feature-films. Few, but not limited to characters include the “Queen of hearts” from Alice in Wonderland, “Captain Hook” from Peter Pan and “Cruella De Vil” from 101 Dalmatians. Looking at these characters walk into the party still is capable of giving the “chills” to most, especially the young ones. While of course getting the official Disney costume is never a tough job, irrespective of which part of the world you are in, for some people it costs a fortune.
Thus, making these costumes at home can never be a bad idea. For Cruella De Vil, for instance, all you need is to wear a long read and black gown underneath a white fur coat. This must be accompanied by some heavy hairdo, mostly a spiky one, the longer the better. However, to carry off a Cruella de Vil, getting a white wig is better recommended, since not everyone can dare to go all white with their hair! Some evil face makeup with long eyelashes, a classy red purse and one can easily become the talk of the party. This character would suit those tall slender women better.
However Halloween these days is definitely not just about the dead or the spooky, is it? People have always tried different and succeeded. When it comes to “good” Disney characters, Fairy Godmother from Cinderella is one of the easiest and best choices for the rather elderly. A long blue gown with a pink cape and hood makes it up. A small stick with silver net like feature attached on top can give it a magic wand like effect, which can be carried along.
For guys, the class Disney character Donald duck would do just fine. A blue sweat shirt is what should be used for the top, while a feathery material cut into like a sumo wrestler’s would make up the bottom. A big red bow stuck to the chest and some fine painting of a collar shape to the sweat shirt is to be done next. After that, some plain white face painting is required with darkened outlining of eyes. A blue winter hat, some sliding Donald duck moves with long orange stockings will give you the best affordable Donald duck costume for the next Halloween!
As far as high-tech characters like the Incredibles or Buzz Lightyear is concerned, it is better to pull those costumes off shelves, them being pretty difficult to DIY. Furthermore, these are the best when a group of people do it as a theme, in order to act all those superhero-ish.
While carrying off a Disney costume at a Halloween can always be a fun experience, some might prefer to lay it low, with just some face paintings. That is never a bad option, if one is not willing to spend on clothes, or just doesn’t have that extra time required for all the arrangements.
